Water, Sanitation and Hygiene are essential to achieving the SDGs: What is the role of governments and donors in ensuring they are available to all?

A keynote address by Ms. Catarina de Albuquerque former United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to safe drinking water and sanitation, and current Executive Chair of the Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) global partnership.

Ms. de Albuquerque’s keynote address will address water, sanitation and hygiene as essential elements to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and universal human rights. She will address the role of donors and other stakeholders in supporting national governments to ensure that everyone, everywhere, has access water, sanitation and hygiene.

Ms. de Albuquerque will be joined by Mr. V K Madhavan, Chief Executive Officer of WaterAid India, and Ms. Clarissa Brocklehurst, Ottawa-based water and sanitation specialist and former Chief of Water Sanitation and Hygiene at UNICEF. The discussion will be moderated by Ms. Julia Sánchez, President and CEO of the Canadian Council for International Cooperation.
